Peking University and Tsinghua University

China’s two most prestigious institutions of higher learning, Peking University and Tsinghua University, are located in the heart of the HSP. Every year China’s best and brightest are attracted to their campuses.

Peking University, an institution with 100 plus years of history, has long been renowned for its strength in the arts, humanities and social sciences. In recent years its applied sciences programs have seen rapid development.

Tsinghua University, a polytechnic institute focusing on the sciences and engineering, is an incubator for China’s promising scientists and engineers.

International exchanges at the two universities are extensive. Thousands of students from other countries study here and Chinese students spend semesters abroad creating a diverse student body with a global perspective.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences

Also located in the HSP is another top-ranked research institution, namely, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). In recent years, its members have taken part in thousands of international exchanges, sharing their scientific expertise with the world. The CAS also actively engages in joint research projects in both the pure and applied sciences.
